Profiles
SakuraDate has a lot of advantages, but the quality of female profiles is the most important one. They are not only beautiful but also extremely detailed—literally every woman on Sakura Date has 5+ pictures and a detailed profile with a lot of information about themselves.
They are not verified by ID, though. There’s no ID verification on SakuraDate, so we had to use other methods to make sure the profiles were real. For example, we used various image search tools to find the profiles on other dating sites with the same photos and found none. Of course, it’s impossible to check all those thousands of profiles, but from what we’ve seen, most of them look 100% real.
By the way, according to the T&C page of the platform, they have “strict identity verification processes,” and they also mention “manual moderation.” So we can assume they actually have an ID verification tool, they just don’t advertise it and check only female profiles.
Features
Most international dating sites today are similar—they have a text chat and some free features, which usually don’t include messaging. SakuraDate isn’t that different. It has several messaging tools (which are pretty nice) and a pretty short list of free services. And yes, you’ll need to pay to chat with the ladies here. But it’s not only about the live chat.

So, first, let’s see what you can do here for free:
- You can sign up on SakuraDate and create a profile here, it’s 100% free.
- It’s also free to upload photos, write a profile bio, and make your dating profile awesome. You can add hobbies, specify your religion, job, and education, write about yourself, and tell what you’re looking for in a relationship. Your profile will be shown in the search results, and even if you didn’t buy any credit packages, you’ll most likely get a lot of profile views and probably even messages from hot Asian girls. Well, only if your profile isn’t empty.
- You can use the search tool for free. The assortment of search filters is far from perfect, though. There are no special filters available to paid members, like on some other dating apps.
- You can send likes to show that you’re interested in a person and add them to your favorite list. You can also play the “Like” game: click the “Like” button to start. It’s a very simple matching game in which you can like girls, skip their profiles, view their photos, and start chatting immediately.
- You can browse profiles, of course. Open any female account, and you’ll be able to read her personal info and even watch photos. Not all photos, though—only the ones from a public album.
- Opening private albums is technically free because you do not pay for them separately. These pictures become available after you start chatting with a person, so it’s technically free, but without credits, it’s impossible to access secret albums.

As for paid features, the assortment is very broad.
- You can send emails (up to 4,000 characters) and attach media files (photos, videos, audio messages).
- You can chat with the ladies and send them short messages and stickers. It’s also possible to attach files to your chat messages.
- Gift delivery is another paid feature: you can choose among dozens of gifts, such as flowers, devices, perfumes, etc. It’s the most expensive feature on the platform (the cheapest gift is 500 credits)
- Getting the contact information of a user costs 500 credits, too (it’s at least $100; a 1,000-credit package costs $200). After that, you’ll be able to ask that user out on a real date, and this feature is surprisingly 100% free.
While free features allow you to explore the platform, investing in credits unlocks real connections and takes dating on SakuraDate to another level.

I was a bit worried about SakuraDate because, you know, there are a lot of similar apps with ID verification and video verification, and there’s no verification here, so I thought it would be full of fake accounts. But it turns out that it’s actually the ONLY dating app that allowed me to find a real Japanese girl, as her on a date, and meet her IN PERSON!

I’ve never seen Asian dating profiles as detailed as those on SakuraDate. I’m a huge fan of extended self-descriptions and partner preferences because I get to gauge their English proficiency without wasting time and money on girls who can’t string a sentence together. And the photos are great, though I wish there were more candid shots without so much makeup and editing. The search and communication tools are solid but need some work. I’d appreciate some form of inbox sorting or tags to make sense of dozens of conversations.
