Technology has changed it all, and human relationships are definitely no exception. Today, we don’t have to limit ourselves to dating and marrying someone from our home country. We can meet a partner in nearly any place in the world, but the more options, the harder the choice. That’s why I’ve picked 10 top countries to visit to find a dream woman.
1. Ukraine
Ukraine is rightly considered one of the best countries to find a wife. Why? For many reasons, actually. First of all, women consistently outnumber men there, so the “bride market” is big and diverse. Second, this is the European country with the most family-minded women, who, however, don’t usually abandon their professional and personal ambitions. They are just reconciling family life and jobs perfectly.
All in all, Ukrainian women are physically attractive, adherent to beauty standards, well-educated, honest, and intellectually challenging partners. So, we can say they took the best from the traditional world and the so-called “progressive” world. That unique mix of qualities makes them some of the most desirable women ever.
2. The Philippines
The Philippines, in turn, is the absolute champion when it comes to intermarriage in Asia. 3.5% of marriages registered in the country are marriages to foreign nationals, and that’s a lot, especially considering that there are many more marriages registered outside the Philippines. If you join one of the top Asian dating sites, you’ll see that there are more Pinay women than women from another country.
In fact, that’s easy to understand. Local women have much to offer. They are known as beautiful, devoted, caring, and supportive partners. Another question is what makes them choose foreigners over locals. There are enough reasons, though. Divorce prohibition, common adultery, love triangles, and lower education rates among men, all that affects the Filipino dating and marriage market.
3. Mexico
Of course, when it comes to marriage migration, the US is the most popular country to find partners among Mexican women. In part, that’s explained by the geographical closeness of the country and mutual cultural impact. However, these are not the only things that matter.
Mexican society is more traditional than the American overall, and that’s not a bad thing. Moreover, more traditional Mexican singles are perfect matches for Americans who expect to find a more family- and marriage-minded partner. It’s also a great place to find a loyal wife as multiple old and new researches show that loyalty and support within the family are the number one values for the vast majority of Mexican women.
4. The United Kingdom
If we take a look at the recent K-1 (foreign fiance(e)) visa reports and compare the number of marriage migrants from the UK, we’ll see that there are more brides and grooms coming from the United Kingdom than from many so-called mail-order bride countries.
Differences between the cultures are obvious, but lots of similarities still matter more. If you don’t want to cope with multiple cultural differences and especially language barriers, the UK is the right country. The institution of the family is still strong there, and though Americans and Brits speak the same language, for both, dating someone from such a different yet recognizable culture seems fun, exciting, and exotic.
5. Thailand
Although many people associate Thailand with sex tourism and bar girls, that is the last thing foreigners should remember about the country. In fact, the institution of the family is one of the strongest there compared to the rest of the world and even other Asian countries. Most young women are motivated to get married and do want to have children. The vast majority of female singles seeking partners online or offline are interested in nothing but serious relationships. Also, divorces are still socially discouraged, and though it’s hard to say it’s a good thing, most Thai women prefer to make every effort to keep their families together.
6. Brazil
Just like in many other Latin countries, the institution of the family in Brazil is stronger than in many other countries. Many Brazilians are Catholics who actually follow the laws of Christian morals. It’s not about the discouragement of premarital sex but rather about the crucial importance of family ties. Speaking of sex, contrary to common belief, Brazil isn’t the best place to meet “passionate and easy” girls. The vast majority of women are seeking serious relationships and marriage, are expecting their parent’s approval, and want to have children.
7. Japan
Japan is quite an interesting case. On the one hand, this country has been homogeneous for a rather long time. It’s not a place where seeing a binational or interracial couple is perfectly common. On the other hand, picture brides who migrated to the US in the 1900s-1920s were from Japan, so marriage migration isn’t new to this society. This country is really quite traditional, manners here matter a lot, and parents’ approval is a must, but a foreigner can find a spouse here. Also, those who expect to find a submissive wife here will be disappointed. Respect for family members, in particular, to a husband, matters a lot, but it’s not about obedience.
8. China
What about China? Do local women intermarry? Yes, they do it a lot. Just like Japan, China has been quite a closed community for a long time, but intermarriage doesn’t seem such a big deal to most locals. Still, we need to distinguish between rural China and urban China. In Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, there are many more open-minded and even Westernized women. Also, just like in some post-Soviet countries, dating foreigners is considered to be somehow prestigious in China. Many local women believe that Westerners are “manlier”, often more handsome, and more confident than local guys. True or not, foreigners still have an advantage there.
9. Poland
Poland is a Central European country where Slavic women live. However, they are more Westernized than girls in some Eastern European countries. They are less obsessed with appearance, often more independent, and are less into the strict distribution of classic gender roles. It’s a good thing for some men and a bad thing for others, but the fact is that intermarriage isn’t stigmatized here, and local women are open-minded enough to marry foreigners.
10. The Czech Republic
Though more and more people in the Czech Republic prefer cohabitation over traditional marriage, long and lasting relationships are still popular in this country. Though the first child is born later, most Czech women do want to have children. At the same time, local ladies are self-reliant and independent, they care about their careers and self-development a lot, and aren’t ready to sacrifice their ambitions for their families. They just prefer to have it all.
Benefits of Marrying a Foreigner & Difficulties You May Face
Should you search for a future wife abroad? Well, it depends on what you expect from the experience and particular things that you tolerate, love, and are absolutely not into. In other words, you’ll need to weigh the pros and cons to answer this question. They are highly subjective, too, but I distinguished the key things that may help you make the right decision.
Potential benefits of finding a wife abroad:
- You can expand borders literally and figuratively. In such a marriage, both spouses can get more open-minded, get smarter, meet completely new people, and learn more about the traditions you want to become a part of your life, too.
- You can improve your chances of finding a similar-minded partner. Paradoxically, it’s sometimes easier to find someone who shares your values and views of life on another continent. If you do deeper research on the different cultures most foreign brides come from, you’ll be able to find the place where women meet your most important criteria.
- Shorter period of dating. If you search for a foreign wife online, especially if you choose a niche website, you’ll be able to start a family in a shorter term. The thing is, couples who always feel the absence of one another and don’t want to spend a lot of time on planes and at hotels usually take serious decisions faster.
- A better chance of finding a partner overall. There are quite many places in the world where a foreigner, especially a Western, has a huge advantage over other men. As I’ve mentioned previously, some women, for example, Chinese girls or ladies from Ukraine are just attracted to them.
Potential drawbacks of marrying a foreign woman:
- Language and cultural barriers. They may be not as strong in some countries as in more “exotic” and homogeneous societies, but there’ll still be barriers. You’ll need to learn how to cope with them, and that will require patience and a lot of love.
- Long-distance thing. It’s not so easy not to be able to see your partner the next evening or even the next week. That’s exactly what happens to long-distance couples who live in different countries. Still, 3 in 4 couples go through it, so the chance is you’ll be able to do it, too.
- Adaptation period. Let’s say you’ve met a girl and proposed. Don’t expect her assimilation to be easy. It’s hard to try to fit in in another country, so your partner will need tons of support. That requires patience and at the same time energy, too.
So, what seems to be more important to you? Consider everything—that’s the only way to make the right choice.
Success Stories
I’m an American married to a Ukrainian. We met on a dating site over 8 years ago and kept chatting on Instagram, and I couldn’t go to Ukraine at that time and she didn’t have an opportunity to go to the US either. A year later I went to Czechia and she was in Slovakia so we met there. She was wonderful. It was a dream. I knew the very first time I met her I was going to marry her. It’s been a long time since then and I’m still happy. We went through a lot, bureaucracy, assimilation, and loss of my savings, and we’re still going strong together.
**
I was never good at building relationships. At least I thought so until I met my third and last wife. She’s from the Philippines. We have two wonderful children together. I call her mom my mom and she does the same for my parents. We are just really close. No cultural differences have ever bothered us. Moreover, I think they made us even closer and somehow smarter. I’ve never regretted my choice and I don’t think I’ll ever do it in the future.
How to Bring a Foreign Wife to the United States
Regardless of where your partner is from, the algorithm will be the same:
- If you want to get married in the United States, you’ll need to file a petition for an Alien fiance(e).
- Your bride in another country will need to apply for a K-1 visa.
- You’ll need to collect certain documents (nothing extraordinary—passports, birth certificates, medical examinations, etc.).
- You’ll need to provide evidence that your relationship is genuine and that you’ve met offline.
- If everything goes right, a bride receives the visa and can legally enter the country and get married within 90 days.
- After a couple gets married, a bride will be able to apply for an Adjustment of Status.
Of course, that’s a complex process, but it’s still a more or less standard for all marriage migrants. By the way, the procedure is quite similar in most other Western countries.
Final Thoughts
Today, finding a wife in another country doesn’t seem to be a miracle. Moreover, it’s quite a common thing. It doesn’t even cost a fortune—if you make a decision to intentionally search for a foreign spouse online, you won’t have to spend tens of thousands of dollars on the services provided by a dating agency. Still, I’d highly recommend you do deep research on the country you’re going to choose, the personality traits and characteristics of locals, and then do research on the online dating market to find a reputable site. That’s how you can make it all work.
